Professor: "Can you tell me anything about the great chemists of the 17th century?"
Student: "They’re all dead, sir."

"Haven’t I seen you before?" asked the judge.
"Maybe," replied the tailor. "So many men owe me money I can’t remember all their faces."

Labor Meeting Last Night.

F.J. Weber of Milwuakee, Wis. and Robert Askew of Ishpeming, Mich., general organizers of the American Federation of Labor, spoke at the labor meeting advertised for last night at the armory. Preceding the meeting the band turned out and played on the square and then marched to the armory and played again, but an audience did not materialize and not more than a couple of dozen men gathered around the stove.

The speakers are employed by the Federation to hold meetings as well as organize lodges wherever they go.

They made rather earnest addresses which were heard with close attention. They spoke along the line which all labor organizers adopt, urging combined effort. They stated that they had organized twenty unions in Joplin and that at a meeting at Webb City tonight they will organize one or more.

Mornin'
My jeans were always too long legged for me as a kid. At the time it wasn’t that unusual to see jeans "rolled up." I don’t know if that was just the way they were made or if mothers just bought jeans with long legs so us kids could grow into ‘em.

At some point in time havin’ a cuff on your Levi’s or Wranglers became out of style and those of us who still had long legged jeans discovered you could turn the extra length up inside the leg. After a while even ironin’ the leg helped to keep the excess in place. That fit well with rollin’ up a long sleeve shirt to the elbow. No cuff on the pants and extra cuff on the shirt.

I’m hearin’ that the bare mid-drift is out (pun?) this year. Preppy is back and less skin is in. Who decides this stuff? Must not be a guy in a blue suit.

This is some fact, but mostly,

Just Jake Talkin’.
