Names for Fire Horses.

Charlie, Joe, Prince, Tom and Jerry are Placarded.

Charley, Joe, Prince, Tom and Jerry is the bright constellation of names applied to the five horses at the fire department headquarters, and a neat little sign has just been suspended over each stall, bearing the inmate’s name. Charley and Joe are the gray ladder wagon team, while Tom and Jerry Pull the horse wagon. All the fire boys took a hand in labeling the horses and each takes an individual pride in keeping the best groomed fire horses in the southwest.

Mornin'
For the sake of settlin’ the ongoin’ argument, I’ll put out the suggestion.

If ya wanna be out when the bulk of kids are goin’ to be trick or treatin’, do it on Saturday evenin’.

The main concern I have is bein’ around kids the whole weekend waitin’ ‘till Sunday to get out and gather the candy. It won’t be possible if kids start showin’ up at the door on Saturday. Seein’ all those goodies gathered will stir the mildest child into wantin’ to get into the action.

Now I’m guessin’ that there will be those who don’t hand out candy on the night before Halloween just on principle, but I’m also guessin’ that most won’t be able to turn away those cute bunny costumes with out a treat. If you’re gonna be home on Saturday evenin’, better have the treat bag ready.

This is some fact, but mostly,

Just Jake Talkin’.

Natural Nutrition

By Mari An Willis

Essential fatty acids (EFAs) are fats that are needed by the body but are not manufactured by it so we must get them through diet. Most recently people have focused on fish oils as the source, but EFAs are also available through sources. Some of these would include: borage oil, flax seed oil, evening primrose and black currant. In the body EFAs act to strengthen cell membranes and promote growth of muscles and nerves.

According to Dr. Andrew Weil, a leading nutritionist and alternative physician, EFAs are used therapeutically to inhibit blood clotting, improve cholesterol profiles and thus help prevent heart disease.

Borage oil is an oil derived from borago officinalis, a sweet little blue flowering plant. It is used in Europe to restore adrenal function, alleviate PMS symptoms, and reduce inflammation, and help in the prevention of heart disease. Borage oil may also stimulate the growth of hair and nails. When applied to the skin it has a soothing effect and it is even reputed to keep the mood pleasant.
