Beaver: "Well, I’ve never been stumped yet."

Angry guide: "Why didn’t you shoot that tiger?"
Timid Hunter: "He didn’t have the right kind of expression on his face for a rug."

A Chain Gang.

A K.P. Auxiliary to be Instituted In This District - Initiation Stunts.

There’ll be all sorts of things doing among the K. of P. members next month and, according to one who is next, persons along Main street in Joplin will witness sights they never saw before when the D.O. K.K. is organized. The order is to bear the same relation to the Knights of Pythias as does the Shrine to the Masonry and is to be made up of not only Joplin knights, but of members from Galena, Columbus, Weir City, Scammon, Pittsburg, Carthage and Neosho. One of the most striking features of the initiation will be the parade down Main street of the candidate chained together and their ankles heavily manacled.

One of the bylaws and one which it is said will be rigidly enforced is that barring the order against adjournment until all the money taken in during the meeting is spent.

I assume that ever’one has figured out what calendar they’re gonna use for the rest of the year. I don’t know where they all come form, but ever’one seems ta end up with at least two.

By now most of the free ones that are given out ta customers by the various businesses are gone I suppose. I appreciate those freebies and end up usin’ em most of the time.

I know folks that go through their calendar ever’ year and mark all the birthdays, anniversaries, and special days of most ever’one they know. That’s prob’ly a good idea. ‘Specially for those of us that don’t typically remember such things.

There are prob’ly several out there that are still payin’ the price for not markin’ February 14 just a little bigger on their calendar last year.

This is some fact, but mostly,

Here's A Tip

By Jo Ann Derson

• "I try to make meals special for my kids. It seems to help them eat more healthy if the food ‘looks’ fun. Here’s an example: Spread cream cheese on a Ritz cracker and sprinkle it with shredded carrots. Then lay two raisins and a slice of olive on the top to make a face. It’s fun, and the kids are more likely to eat it." — O.V. in Colorado

• "For painting around windows, instead of using masking tape or another kind of tape (which can be hard to put up and can leave a residue when you take it down) use contact paper or shelf paper. Cut a strip and apply it right to the window. You can reuse it for several windows if they are the same size." — T.T. in Georgia

• "One thing I do to increase my chances of not getting sick during cold and flu season is wipe my desk phone down with alcohol every day. I also wash my hands frequently." — C.E. in New York

• Here’s a great idea from Mrs. M.G. in Oklahoma: Use photos as postcards to share warm memories of wonderful trips. She takes trips with Turner Tours of Oklahoma City and has friends all over the world to share her experiences with.

• Post-it notes can be a great organization tool. Try putting a Post-it note on the fridge, and when you run out of something, write it on the Post-it. When grocery-shopping time comes, grab the Post-it and go!
