Big Deal at Ozark.

Prof. A. Arnold went down to Ozark today to confer with John C. Rogers about another big lead deal. He has made a mineral report on 2000 acres of land which Mr. Rogers is offering for sale to an eastern company. Prof. Arnold was in the other Christian county real estate transaction, as a mineral expert and made the report which resulted in the sale of $150,000 worth of land south and east of Ozark.

The Midland Mining Co. of Philadelphia have just bought the Lead Hill mines, near Mansfield, in Wright county, with about 600 acres of adjacent lands. Prof. Arnold reports paying $1,000,000 for the property. The Lead Hill mines are well developed and considered immensely rich in lead and zinc.

Mornin',
I’ve always heard the old sayin’ that opinions are like belly buttons, ever’body’s got one. The other slant on that I tend ta like better is that opinions are like armpits, ever’body’s got a couple.

Now a lotta folks don’t think their opinions are any more worthwhile than the next. That seems ta be a pretty healthy attitude. Throw them ideas out there and kick ‘em around. Someone might pick up on a mediocre idea and run with it, turnin’ it into somethin’ no one else would a thought of.

The real problems arise when someone seems ta think there can be only one opinion, and they’ve got it.

There’s always more than one way ta look at any particular situation. It’s the arguments that sometimes don’t always make sense. Either way it’s an interestin’ proposition. A lot more interestin’ than armpits.

This is some fact, but mostly,

Just Jake Talkin’.

Here's A Tip
By JoAnn Derson

• "We have a lot of take-out menus from nearby restaurants, and we used to throw them all in a drawer in the kitchen. That got very messy. My husband came up with the idea of getting a three-ring binder and plastic sleeves, and we put a menu in each sleeve and labeled the binder. Now we know where the menus are when we want to order take-out, and the drawer is free of clutter." -- M.M., via e-mail

• "You can use dishwasher detergent to clean your bathtub. I moved into a place with a very stained and dirty bathtub. I filled the tub with very hot water, put a cup of detergent into the water (the kind you put in a dishwasher, not soap) and stirred it to dissolve the powder. After letting it sit until the water was just warm, I used a scrub brush to lightly lift away the soapy grime. It took the stains out, too." -- G.G. in South Carolina

• "Nothing is more soothing than plain yogurt on a sunburn. Slather it thickly onto sunburned skin, wait for about 15 minutes, and rinse off in room-temperature water. It feels much better afterward, and it gives immediate relief when it goes on cold." -- C.L. in Texas

• "When we go away for vacation, we leave pans of kitty litter in the bathtubs and fridge (door closed) to keep mildew and such at bay. We have been gone for as long as three weeks and have come back to fresh bathrooms." -- O.E. in Canada

• "If you’ve never used Skin-So-Soft to repel mosquitoes, you should. It does an excellent job and smells so good, my whole family uses it. I even use it to wipe down the outside of my door to keep bugs from buzzing all over the entrance." -- A.A. in Florida
