Mornin',

Seems kinda silly to pay someone eight or ten bucks just ta cut a piece of glass. All ya gotta do is buy onea those glass cutters and run it down a straight line.

‘Course that was my opinion last week, before I practiced the craft for a window replacement.

I cut glass kinda like I whittle. When I whittle I just start out ta make a tooth pick. If somethin’ more grand results, I take it as good luck.

Unfortunately, my glass cuttin’ was supposed ta end up with somethin’ more than a sliver.

I’m figurin’ my glass cuttin’ practice cost a good bit more than I woulda spent for someone who knew what they were doin’. May be the best part of experience is learnin’ your limitations.

This is some fact, but mostly,

Here's A Tip
By JoAnn Derson

• Need a nice smell that lasts in the car? Tuck a dryer sheet under your car mat. Every time you plant your feet, the fresh smell wafts up.

• "My closets are on either side of a short hallway that ends in my bathroom. The bi-fold doors were forever getting in the way of access to the bathroom, since both my husband and I kept neglecting to shut them. I solved this by hanging a long length of fabric from a cafe tension rod over the openings. A small hook on one side can pin the new ‘door’ back to keep it open, and those bi-fold doors are history!" -- H.L. in Pennsylvania

• "This isn’t necessarily a tip, but it’s produced such a dramatic difference, I thought I’d send it in. I got tired of the drab look of my screened-in porch and took a simple scrub brush to the screens. What a difference a wash makes! The clean screens let in the natural beauty of the grass and trees, and I have taken to having breakfast on the patio now." -- E.A. in Florida

• To freshen rugs without a lot of heavy perfume smell, sprinkle a little baking soda on carpet and let it sit for about 10 minutes before vacuuming.

• "If you have trouble judging how far to pull your car into the garage, try hanging a tennis ball from the ceiling suspended on a long rope so that it will hit your windshield at the point where you should stop. I never go too far or stop short since my husband installed this setup for me." -- U.M.L. in Ohio

• Get wrinkles out of plastic tablecloths in a hurry with a hair dryer. Just set it at a low setting, and gently run the warm air over the wrinkles. Smooth and set the table.
