Fined $15.00 Each in Police Court.

John Milless and Guerney Irwin, who got into a scrap last Saturday afternoon, during which Milless threw a stone through a plate glass window in the front of R.H. Rose's store, were this morning arraigned in police court, where they entered a plea of guilty to an affray. They were each given a fine, which with the costs, amounted to $15.00.

The window which was smashed was about 7x10 feet, and the loss will be over $85, for which amount it was insured. The building is owned by Jas. Luke.

At a meeting of the stock holders of the Carthage Ice and Cold Storage Co. held a few days ago it was decided to move their plant to a point nearer one of the railroads provided a suitable location can be secured. If this is done the plant will be rebuilt on improved lines, involving an outlay of from $12,000 to $15,000.

$90,000 Per Acre Benchmark .

The City Council voted in closed session last Tuesday night to have an ordinance drawn up to accept an offer of $850,000, or $91,397 per acre, for 9.3 acres of the Myers Park Development. The Council had placed an asking price of $1 million. The property under consideration sits between the Wal-Mart and Tapjac properties, (map inside)both sold by the City for $19,000 per acre.

According to Economic Development Director Max McKnight the deal gives credence to the Council's expectations about the value of the overall development.

Tulsa, Oklahoma based American Commercial Property (Americom) plans to build a strip mall on the acreage, enclosing approximately 59,000 square feet, according to McKnight. The company would have up to 210 days to market the project, with earnest money being put up during that period.

The site would utilize underground electric lines and comply with all other restrictions outlined in the Development Plan.

The project would also mark the beginning of City street construction on the former Myers Park Airport property.

Geranium House Is Closed See You at the Hyde House.

"Tis the season to be jolly...." and what a great season it will be!! This is the time of year for everyone to rejoice, open their hearts and to receive the true blessing of Christmas!! What a wonderful time for us here at artCentral to end our stay at our beloved Geranium House.

It's a little sad...we will miss this little house something terrible!! The love, sweat and tears we've put into this place makes it feel almost as if were our child. But we can't dwell on the sad end of things as there are sooo many great things about to happen for us!!

Before we head out of Red Oak II we want to say thanks to Lowell and Charlotte for the opportunity to have the Geranium House for our home!! As it turned out..we don't think we could have found a better place to get our act together!! It's been said before...that little 120 year old home (the Marsden girls were raised there and have visited us and approved wholeheartedly of our little gallery!) gave us a solid footing to help get artCentral back into the art world!! A big THANK YOU to Lowell and Dan Corp and Jerry Truman for their help in setting us up in the Geranium House!!

With the holidays all around us and our impending move ahead of us we are sorry to say the Geranium House, as an art gallery, will not be open again. Our last open was Sunday the 20th.

Jerry called and wanted to retrieve his artwork as he was leaving town for the holidays. We decided it wasn't a great idea to leave everything out there unattended..so....it's over.

We thank Jerry fro the bottom of our hearts for all his support!!! He has also agreed to sit on our Board as an advisor!! We are sooo pleased to have him around!! We truly value his opinions and are honored he will take the time to help us!! THANK YOU, Jerry!!

We will have the phone ring into my house for now until we get a hookup at the Hyde House. We will try our best to keep in touch and will try to help anyone looking for artists or artwork!!

We want to thank all the artists who had a show here as well as all the folks that attended all of our openings..we couldn't have done it without you!! Thanks to everyone who bought artwork through us!! Your patronage is of the utmost importance!! Again, without you.......

Great big THANK YOUs to our Hang-Out-In-The-Kitchen-Party-After-Everyone's-Gone friends for all of their support and help in cleaning up! We are soooooooo very fortunate to have such loyal and giving friends!!

Thanks to our members!! We appreciate you very much and are sooo happy you have stuck with us!! We promise 1999 will be the best ever!! And of course THANKS to our Board and every one of our volunteers!! Best wishes to all of you this Holiday Season and have the greatest New Year possible!! WE LOVE YOU GUYS!!

Life and Drawing starts again in January. See you then!! More next week we hope!

Mornin',

Although there is still the chance that the proposed sale of the chunk of Myers Park property could stall, the fact that McKnight has found someone willin' to put money into Carthage is encouragin'. It means that there are folks out there that are willin' to invest in the idea of the Myers Park Development, somethin' that has been a reasonable question for some time now.

Durin' the debate over the Development Plan, many questioned whether the restrictions bein' placed on the eventual buyers were too confining. Under ground utilities, green space, parkin' and buildin' limitations were all points of contention. This deal at least makes ya think they aren't outa line too much. The price is also bein' confirmed as within expectations.

We haven't got this one in the boat yet, but it's always encouragin' to get a good strike, even if it just bends the hook.

This is some fact, but mostly,

Just Jake Talkin'.

Old man winter found us!!! I trust that all of you will have your extra armor on during this time of year when we expose ourselves to the elements and crowded situations such as church, shopping malls & huge dept stores with their recycled air, family gatherings and lots of hugs and kisses brought in from all parts of the country. Yep, I mean your immune system armor!

Researchers have consistently shown that Vitamin C is one of the easiest ways to go, but easy is not always best. How about a little echinacea tea a few times a day or Fo-Ti capsules. I like to go for the big guns of prevention with Macro-Force. It is one of a few products extensively researched for its super immune enhancing ability. It is Beta-1, 3-d-glucan. In our terms, it is an extract of baker's yeast ( no yeast proteins or endotoxins exist that might cause a reaction to those allergic to yeast.) It is catergorized as a food product.

On a personal note, it is what I kept my mother and her caretakers on so that we all stayed healthy and did not give her anything to complicate matters. We miss her, especially during the holidays and know that mild depression can also compromise the immune system. Two of the most important reasons I can find for keeping our immune system strong are for ourselves and those we may be spreading something along to. It seems the act of any responsible person to stay as healthy as possible.

Thank all of you for your cards, gifts and expressions of love.
