Hensley, Hohulin, Holt Reelected -

Williams Defeats McGuire

The Jasper County vote count was completed at 3:30 a.m. this morning after more than 4,000 write in ballots were hand counted. Over 700 ballots further delayed results because voters voted for Holt and then also cast a write in ballot. The votes for the Collector were voided then ballots had to be manually repunched to reflect votes for remaining candidates and issues. A total of 23,086 ballots were cast representing about 37% of the County's registered voters.

Two Democrat incumbents, Circuit Clerk Kathleen McGuire, and Coroner Ronald Mosbaugh, were defeated. Incumbent Harlan Snow of the Jasper County Emergency Services Board was also voted out.

Republican State Representative Bubs Hohulin gathered a two to one advantage over his opponent in Jasper County and was reelected in the 126th District.

Presiding County Commissioner Danny Hensley won relection with 58% of the votes.

Mornin',

It was obvious from early on that it was gonna be a long night at the Courthouse last night. The large number of write in ballots slowed the vote countin' to a snails pace.

Reports of a larger than usual off year election also added to the tension of those gathered to get the latest reports comin' from the Clerk's office. As time came and went for the t.v. crews to get any results for the 10 o'clock news, candidates and well wishers began to fade. After the midnight deadline for most mornin' papers passed, there were few left to hear the occasional reports on the latest ten or so precincts. As the early mornin' continued the numbers dwindled to a handful. An abundance of coffee and a large hero sandwich delivered by a well wisher about 2 a.m. helped keep the troops content. The Clerk's Office and personnel performed with good humor and expertise till the end. One Margie will remember into retirement, I'm sure.

This is some fact, but mostly,

Intro to the Internet

The World Wide Web is the most talked about component of the Internet today. It is also the one component of the Internet that is advancing ( in terms of technology) the fastest. As you travel from place to place, information is constantly being transferred back and forth between client and server computers.

While you’re "surfing" the World Wide Web, you use Hypertext Links (Some time called Hot Links) to quickly travel from one location to another.

These links change colors after you click on them. This makes it easier for you to keep track of where you’ve been. In addition, these links could take you anywhere. Clicking on a hypertext link could connect you to another town, state, or even country.

Of course, links aren’t the only way to connect to another location. Each World Wide Web site has its own individual address. You’ve probably seen commercials on television where they show an address that; looks something like ‘htt://www.company.com/’. This is the World Wide Web Address of that company. The real name for this address in Uniform Resource Locator (or URL) and you can easily access that particular company by typing the address directly in the location field on your browser.
