Collided on Bicycles.

A preacher and a reporter, both on bicycles, met in collision on west Third street just off the square last night about 6:30 o’clock. The reporter got a little the worst of it but was able to sit upon the walk and scrape the mud off of his face and shirt front, while the reverend gentleman limped up to the top of the hill mounted his wheel and rode off as it be was not much the worse for the contact. No serious bruises developed and preaching is announced at the Christian Church as usual while Hal Wise says he does not find it necessary to take a day off today.

INTERESTING MELANGE.
A Chronological Record of Events as they have Transpired in the City and County since our last Issue.

Felony Charge Withdrawn.

Shell Mitchell was brought before Justice McCune this afternoon, when the charge of felony against him was withdrawn and one of misdemeanor substituted. This is the man charged with stealing Frank Wells’ soda fount. As a new fount costs $30, he was charged with felony, but upon investigation it was found that the vessel stolen was very old and nearly worn out, and as no charge of house breaking was made, it resolved itself into a simple petit larceny case. The hearing will be held next Thursday, Harry Green defending Mitchell.

Sale of City Property.

Through the agency of D.S. Miller, David McAbee, the stonemason residing at 421 Sophia street, sold today to Lydia Groff a house and lot near the west end of Cedar street. The consideration was $800. Mrs. Groff will reside in the property.

Johnson Family Blugrass to Perform at Woodshed.

Several years ago a little musical band was formed in the living room of the childhood home. Sitting at their daddy's knee, four children were taught to sing and play different kinds of acoustical instruments. This band was eventually known as the Johnson Family Bluegrass. With music being a part of their everyday life the Johnson family developed a unique blend of Bluegrass style music which includes a variety of rhythms and harmony. Good wholesome family fun accompanies this family band and offers listening pleasure to anyone with a taste for clean, fresh Bluegrass.

The Johnson Family Bluegrass will be performing the evening of Friday, December 3 in the Woodshed inside Main Street Mercantile on the Square in downtown Carthage, Missouri. For more information call 417-358-1800.

Group Show Over December 23rd.

by Robin Putnam, artCentral

The first week of December ................where does the time go?? Aren’t we soooo very fortunate to have had such mild weather so far. It sure makes putting up all those Christmas decorations easier when it’s not freezing outside!!

There are some absolutely drop dead beautiful decor-ations this year!! So many folks taking great care in decorating their homes and yards. If you want to see a real eye-popper head west on Macon staying with it even thought the name of the street changes a few times. It’s past Country Club road but before CR 165. Once it’s dark believe me you won’t be able to miss this holiday showplace!!

Zooming by it’s hard to count all the trees and deer but a good guess is about 3-5 deer done in lights, maybe 12 trees made from strings of lights, icicle lights on the house and the fence and wreaths on the porch pillars done in green lights!! And there could be more it’s just hard to catch all of it at 40 mph!!

This place gets my vote for the lighting competition this year. Check it out and see if you don’t agree that this is an exceptional lighting display!! Three cheers for the industrus home owners!!

As it stands now we will be closed for the season starting on December 24th through January 5th. The group show here now will end as of the 23rd so there really isn’t a good reason to have the place open when it will be empty, right !! If anything about that changes we will have the info on our recorded phone message. We hope that those great folks that help us out around here will get to spend this Holiday Season with their families.

Until then..........it’s bus-iness as usual!! We have had a great response to this show and hope it continues until the very last day!! There are many wonderful pieces of art and of course we have Penny’s cute little Santas. More.....next week. 358-4404. 1110 E 13th & www. ozarkartistscolony.com under organizations.

Mornin',

We’ve pretty much finished up all the left over trimmin’s from Thanksgivin’. Now all that’s left is turkey pieces.

The dog is still gettin’ real attentive anytime the ice box is opened, hopin’ for a last bone to be discovered somewhere deep. There are no doubt a couple a bones buried just under the surface somewhere in the yard.

I’ve always wondered ‘bout the practicality of buryin’ bones. Aren’t other animals capable of smellin’ the morsels too? I’ve got to assume that the trait comes from livin’ in the wild where savin’ a portion for later made some sense, so I’m not one to question too far the instincts of the creature. Maybe bein’ buried keeps other critters busy and lets the animal sleep off the big meal. Kinda like football games on tv.

This is some fact, but mostly,

Natural Nutrition

by Mari An Willis

Whew!!! What a whirlwind of a weekend. Exhaustion would be the best adjective I could use to describe those days surrounding the Thanksgiving holiday. My daughter came home to announce her forthcoming marriage in June and pick up family furniture for their new home...take the Calming mixture of peppermint, chamomile and hops for that emotion. So much activity...keep going....better stop and drink some water and take a time released vitamin B for the extra stress. Good grief, these kids can go so much faster than I can now. Aren’t they tired yet? Did I remember to take my multivitamin this morning? How could I have forgotten to thaw the dinner rolls? Oh well, we didn’t need more food anyway.

Frequently people ask what do I take in the way of vitamins and herbs. The above is a short synopsis of my routine. That is, there really is no set in stone routine. With the activity of a holiday one would increase the nutritional or in quiet times decrease the amount of supplements taken. We are just trying to tune our supplements into our daily needs. I have a set number of things I take which I consider the basics then I take my extras. Taylor the supplements to the body and the desired goal for that body.
